The man was found in critical condition and was resuscitated at the scene and taken to Wellington Hospital.

Unfortunately, police have since confirmed that the man died from his injuries.

Today, more information about the suicide in front of Parliament has finally been unearthed.

The deceased, Dan Hone, was a native of Wellington.

He chose to end his life on his 50th birthday.

Here's what happened:

Dan Hone lived with her elderly mother in a house with a mortgage in Moa Point, Wellington.

He lived with his mother solely to care for her.

He moved back in the last few years due to his mother's poor health.

The house is 1,234 square meters, under a sloping lot, where his mother has lived for 40 years.

Although the house is old and generally well-maintained, the location, with a backdrop of mountains and the sea, still looks quite cozy.

It was such a simple family that suddenly suffered a sharp deterioration in its financial situation this year.

It turns out that in order to suppress inflation, interest rates in New Zealand have soared in the last one or two years.

Many people's home loan repayments have doubled since the update.

Dan Hone and his mom is a typical example.

Earlier this year, his family's fixed mortgage came up for renewal.

Before the renewal, the repayment amount was NZD 800 per fortnight, but after the renewal, it jumped to NZD 1600 per fortnight.

The family, which already had a low income, was immediately in trouble.

Dan Hone and his mom's family started defaulting on their land tax and mortgage payments.

After a period of delinquency, the bank came to the door and wanted to take his family's house to compulsory sale.

According to the government's valuation, his house with an ocean view could be worth 1.5-1.6 million dollars.

At this point, the family was all in anxiety.

Dan Hone's mom, who has lived here most of her life, is very upset.

She refused to cooperate with the bank, wouldn't give home showings, and said she refused to move.
